We know that Petra came from a long line of females named Petra. In fact it was a tradition in her family that the eldest daughter was given that name. This tradition was carried on for quite a number of generations. In this activity we are going to learn more about the city of Petra. We are also going to learn more about how archeologists find clues to previous civilizations. Check out the site below and explore. You may also look ahead at the activity that we are going to do in class.
Once you have finished exploring this site come back here and post a response to this question. If you were an archeologist, what part of the world (and civiliztion) would you most want to explore and why. What types of tools would you need to use in your work?

Once I read the City of Petra website I decided I would want to explore the part of the world where Petra is now. I would have to use a pickax-type tools so I could find hidden structures/statues.
I would Like to explore Petra.I mean,who WOULD'NT like to explore a lost stone city? It would rock!!!

I would like to explore the city Petra because it is a ancient city. It would be fun to do that because there is lots of rock and more stuff that would be fun to dig through. I would need lots of hard tools that can't break.

If I could be a archeologist, I would want to explore the places the Mayan empire has been. I think that they are a interesting empire. I think I would need a lot of people, a brush, and some time.

From what I read about Petra I would like to explore it. It looks like there is still alot things to be discoverd. I would need tools that could break through rock such as a pick or a brush to brush away dirt without breaking whatever it is I found.
